Captain Rajshekhar Banerjee was commissioned into the Indian Navy by the President of India on 01 Jan 1989.
He has served onboard various types of warships which include 3 frigates, 2 amphibious assault ships, a minesweeper and an auxillary. In addition to being a qualified watch keeping officer he specialised in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in 1997.
He was the Head of Logistics onboard Indian Naval Ship Godavari, when she made the first ever maritime diplomatic call, on a Saudi Arabian port by a Indian warship.
He was also the logistics head of department at the Naval Academy in Goa. Later, it was during his tenure at the Indian Navy's largest frontline air station, also in Goa, that the Indian Navy's MiG29-K fighter air squadrons were commissioned.
His last appointment as the head of logistics was at the remote but premier Naval electrical training establishment at Jamnagar in its platinum jubilee year.
Captain Rajshekhar Banerjee gained his skills in Computer Systems' Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. For his contribution as a member of the Indian Navy's team - which designed and operationalized the Integrated Pay Accounting and Disbursement System on a RDBMS platform - he was awarded a commendation by the Chief of The Naval Staff in 2012.
Presently he is serving at the 285 year old Naval Dockyard at Mumbai.
Captain Banerjee has extensive experience (including as an instructor) of General Management, Human Resource Management and Industrial relations.
He is married to Sandra D'Silva from Goa, who is passionate about social causes and wellness. His elder daughter is a post graduate in humanities and is working abroad. His younger daughter is a SYBA student in Mumbai.
He is a fitness enthusiast, avid reader of travelogues and keenly interested in developing his culinary skills. He is planning an extensive travel : to touch every single lighthouse on the Indian coastline; after retirement.
